Michael Flint

Michael is enjoying retirement after a career spent mainly in Further Education both as a Technical College lecturer and an administrator.

His war service was with the Royal Engineers. He returned to London University and graduated in Geography and Geology before starting professional training.

A long held interest in painting was developed in a number of evening classes before he retired. These studies culminated in the Higher Certificate in Fine Art studied at Southampton Institute. Since retirement, painting and drawing have been his principal recreational activity. Michael continues his studies at Southampton Institute and by attending Life classes at Southampton City College.

No fixed preference of style nor medium can be claimed but most of his work contains a a strong representational element. His main inspiration is the landscape, the elements of nature and human responses to the environment - past and present, urban and rural.
